Hinges
Our Hinges are available in a wide range of sizes, finishes & types to suit any residential or commercial application. Our hinges usually come individually unless stated otherwise. Scroll down to view our full range of hinges.
For retrofitting; regular butt hinges are usually measured flat (both butts fully open) across the full width & height of the hinge.
Generally;
-
For entrance & heavy doors: we recommend 3 Ball Bearing Hinges (typically H100xW75mm) for reliability and smooth-action for years to come.
-
For internal doors: we recommend 2 Fixed Pin Hinges (typically H100xW75mm) in most cases, or 2 Ball Bearing Hinges if smooth-action is a point of concern.
-
For bathroom doors: we recommend 2 Fixed Pin Hinges (typically H100xW75mm) in most cases, or 2 Ball Bearing Hinges if smooth-action is a point of concern. For smaller bathrooms, 2 Lift-Off Hinges may be needed to pass some local councils' regulations.
-
For wider than typical door jambs: we recommend 2 or 3 Broad Butt Hinges (typically H100xW125mm all the way up to H100xW300mm) for the door to be able to swing past a wider door jamb, bricks, and alike.

Our hinges;
-
Fixed Pin: the pin of the hinge is fixed and cannot be removed. These are the most common type of hinge.
-
Loose Pin: the pin of the hinge can be removed carefully with the right tools, so the door can be taken off without unscrewing the hinges.
-
Ball Bearing: the pin is generally fixed but the hinge pivots around multiple ball bearing mechanisms. These hinges are characterised by their smooth-action movement and ability to be used in heavier duty applications.
-
Broad Butt: allows a door to clear wider door jambs, bricks, and alike. Typically, they are fixed pin and are essentially a wider than normal hinge.
-
Parliament: allows a door to clear wider door jambs, bricks, and alike. Usually used in lighter duty applications for aesthetics, and were traditionally used on shutter windows.
-
Lift Off: as the name suggests, the door can be lifted off even while shut - permitted they are installed correctly and the door jamb allows for this. Often used in smaller bathrooms & commercial premises to allow quick access in case of a medical emergency, etc. Some local councils mandate this on smaller bathrooms.
-
Hirline (Quick Fix): a smaller butt folds into a larger butt, quick to install and usually cheaper than a regular hinge. Does not require any morticing for installation in most cases.
-
Radius: a regular fixed pin hinge but has radiused corners for quicker morticing and installation. Often used for retrofitting as many 80's & 90's builds used these hinges as standard.
-
Spring Hinge: has a spring action that can be adjusted manually to allow a door to swing back to a position after a door is pushed open or closed. Often used in restaurant kitchens and such.
-
Self Rising: the hinge rises a little as it swings open, helping to clear high carpets & alike.
